Went to see “The Berlin Diaries” by Andrea Stolowitz, Directed by Will Steinberger, and with David Greenspan and Rebecca S’manga Frank was great. Lovely space
The Beverly Johnson Monologue was great. The seating and atmosphere was comfortable. The staff was pleasant accommodating our large group.
Love that we have this in midtown east . Nice to be able to go to the theater for a show with dealing with Times Square crowds . Small theater spaces holding around 50-60 people so you feel a part of the play . You can hear well & see the actors facial expressions up close . Staff is friendly and the theater is accessible to those in wheelchairs . Nice accessible bathroom in the lower level . Also be sure to ask for a set of headphones if you have trouble hearing . Nice place .
I love that they have a bar and it’s a beautiful theater. We were in theater C for school research project. The production was okay.
Was there a few weeks ago. The show I saw was pretty good..However, there is a seat in the back, right corner, of the smaller theater space, which you should be careful of, you can hit your head when getting up, there shouldnt be a seat in there. And if you do hit your head, the staff could care less. At least that was the case when I hit my head after standing up at the end of the show. The only person that demonstrated any concern was the female guard on the ground floor.
I'm biased because I work there, but this is literally one of maybe a handful of completely non-profit multi-venue Theatrical houses in the country. The spaces feature a wide variety of Theatrical experiences, and whatever your taste, there's bound to be at least three shows a year you will love (musicals, straight comedies and dramas, experimental presentations, even the occasional puppet-driven performance, with a different set of productions every month). Everything is curated, the companies make every single dollar in ticket sales, and the spaces are varied. It's good!
I like the theater. They put on creative & entertaining productions. Route 66 had great music and interesting story, however it could have been more positive and not an underlying downer.
"Dig" is a fabulous play brilliantly written by Theresa Rebeck , with sensitive on target acting by the entire cast. A play both funny and very moving with the
exquisite stage design another featured character. It has been awhile since I've seen such excellent theatre.
DIG: within a beautifully designed set this ensemble, under the direction of the playwright Rebeck, astounded us with the play’s twist and turns. The comic performances give way serious ideas that leave you a bit stunned. Highly recommended!
love this hidden gem theater! My fav shows so dar are Pride & Prejudice, DIG and I’m so excited for more upcoming shows! I’ve been a member for 2 years and will keep being a member as long as I stay in the UES!
